Tacho (“Tacho”, “the app”, “we”) is a GPS speedometer and trip tracker: it shows your travelling speed and records trips for cars, bikes, buses, trains, scooters and bicycles. In plain terms: your location is measured and your trips are stored on your own phone. Tacho has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking — and it is built without internet access, so it cannot upload your data anywhere even in principle.
Everything Tacho records lives in a private database on your phone:
This information is not uploaded to us — we operate no server that receives it and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the app removes this data from the phone.
Tacho needs your device location to measure speed and distance. The app asks for location access while the app is in use (foreground only):
Tacho is offline by design. The app requests no internet permission at all, which means it has no technical way to send your trips, routes, location or settings anywhere. There is no sign-up, no login and no cloud sync. The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics, no crash reporting and no third-party tracking of any kind, and we build no profile of you.
Tacho can export a trip (or all trips) as CSV, JSON or GPX files. Exporting happens in the app’s private storage on your phone. Nothing is transmitted unless you tap the share option and pick a destination (messaging app, email, cloud drive, and so on) in the system share sheet. Once you share a file, the app you send it to handles it under its own privacy policy. GPX files include the trip’s route points when route retention was on for that trip.
That is the complete list. Tacho asks for no other permissions — no internet, no camera, no photos, no contacts, no notifications and no background location.
Tacho is a general-purpose driving and travel tool and is not directed at children.
Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can erase every stored trip and route point at any time with Settings → Delete all trip data; uninstalling the app removes everything else. Files you exported and shared to another app or folder are outside Tacho, so delete them where you saved them.
If the app’s data practices change, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change.
