MessSathi — Privacy Policy

The short version

MessSathi is a fully offline app. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. Everything you enter — members, meals, bazar expenses, deposits, receipt photos and settings — is stored only on your own device. The app does not even have internet access permission.

1. Who we are

MessSathi is an Android application developed by Graphical Art Studio (package name: com.messsathi.app). This policy explains how the app handles your information. It applies to the MessSathi app distributed via Google Play and other app stores.

2. Information we collect

We collect nothing. MessSathi has no servers, no user accounts and no analytics.

The app stores the following data locally on your device, solely so the app can function:

Mess member names and optional phone numbers you add
Daily meal entries (breakfast / lunch / dinner / guest meals)
Bazar (grocery) expenses — amounts, categories, description, payer and date
Deposits, recurring expense definitions and recorded settlement payments
Receipt photos you choose to attach (stored in the app's private storage)
App settings (language, theme, currency, reminder time, optional budget)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it (see section 6). We cannot see it, access it, or recover it.

3. Where your data is stored

All app data is kept in the app's private storage area on your device, protected by the Android operating system and your device's lock screen security. No copies are sent to us or to any third party.

Note: if you have enabled "Back up to Google Drive" (Android system backup) for your device, Android may include app data in your own Google account backup. That backup is controlled entirely by you and Google's terms — not by us. You can disable it in Android Settings.

4. Permissions we use and why

Permission	Why it is needed
Notifications POST_NOTIFICATIONS	Optional daily meal reminder. You can turn this off anytime in Settings, and the permission can be revoked from Android settings.
Camera (via system camera app)	Only when you tap "Attach receipt photo" for a bazar entry. The photo is saved in the app's private storage. The app does not access the camera in the background.
Biometric / device credential managed by Android	Used only for the optional App Lock feature. Authentication is handled entirely by Android's system prompt; the app never accesses or stores your fingerprint or PIN.
Home screen widget	An optional widget showing today's meal count with quick-action buttons. Widget data stays on the device.

MessSathi does not request the internet permission. The app cannot upload your data even if it wanted to.

5. Third-party services

MessSathi does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, cloud-sync or login SDKs. No third party receives data from the app.

6. Sharing and export (user-initiated)

The app offers optional sharing features. These run only when you trigger them:

PDF report / CSV export — opens Android's share sheet so you can save or send a report to an app of your choice (e.g., WhatsApp, Drive, email).
Full data backup (CSV) — same mechanism, initiated by you.
Member summary share — shares a text summary via the app you pick.

Once you share a file through another app, that app's own privacy policy applies. We never receive a copy.

7. Data deletion

You are always in full control of your data:

In-app delete — Settings → Data → "Delete all data" permanently removes all members, meals, bazar, deposits and settlements.
Uninstall — removing the app deletes all of its data from your device.
Since we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

8. Children's privacy

MessSathi does not collect any data, so it does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else. The app is safe for all ages and contains no ads or in-app purchases.

9. Security

Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (app sandboxing, screen lock, device encryption). Because the app is offline and has no internet permission, there is no server-side data that could be breached. You can add an extra layer of protection with the optional App Lock (fingerprint / PIN).

10. Changes to this policy

If a future version of MessSathi introduces features that affect privacy (for example, an optional cloud sync), this policy will be updated before that feature is released, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app's store listing or release notes.
